Background and Funding Source
Oklahoma Rural Rehabilitation Corporation was established in 1934 as a non-profit corporation. Initial funds were provided to a board of directors to assist farmers and rural residents. Those funds are now invested in farm loans, and the interest earned on those loans supports scholarships, rural development grants, and other ORRC activities. The scholarship program is funded from the agency’s own earnings and does not rely on county, state, or federal appropriations.
