Kauai County Farm Bureau Scholarships

Overview
Up to four (4) scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded annually to residents of Kauai who are pursuing studies in agricultural-related disciplines. Eligible applicants include high school graduating seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students. Acceptable fields include general agriculture, animal science, aquaculture, or closely related areas; majors in food science and nutrition are not eligible.
Additionally, up to two (2) scholarships of $1,000 each per year will be available to Kauai residents whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are members of the Kauai County Farm Bureau. High school graduating seniors and college/university students may apply for these awards.
Eligibility
- Must be a resident of Kauai.
- For the general agricultural scholarships: open to high school seniors (graduating), undergraduates, and graduate students studying agriculture, animal science, aquaculture, or a closely related field. Food science and nutrition majors are excluded.
- For the Kauai County Farm Bureau (KCFB) Family scholarships: open to high school graduating seniors and college/university students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) hold membership in the Kauai County Farm Bureau.
Selection Criteria
Scholarships will be awarded based on:
- Recent academic performance,
- Involvement in school and community activities,
- Agricultural experience.
Applicants to the KCFB Family scholarship may receive additional consideration (points) reflecting their family’s participation or volunteer service with Kauai County Farm Bureau events and activities.
Limits, Renewals, and Multiple Applications
- A student may apply to one or both scholarship programs, but a qualifying student may receive only ONE scholarship award.
- Students may be eligible in multiple years but must submit a new application each year.
- To broaden opportunities among applicants, the scholarship committee will limit awards to the same student for no more than two consecutive years; after two years in a row, that student must wait one year before being considered again for up to another two consecutive years.
Application Requirements
The following items must be submitted for an application to be considered:
- Completed application form,
- Most recent official transcript (high school or college),
- Three recent letters of personal reference.
