SLEMCO Scholarships

Overview
Each year SLEMCO awards $40,000 in college scholarships. Twenty winners receive $2,000 apiece. These scholarships are distributed by random drawing and are available to SLEMCO members for themselves or for their dependent children.
2025 status and 2026 timeline
The application period and selection process for the 2025 scholarships have concluded. The next application cycle opens on February 1, 2026. Applications will be accepted from February 1, 2026 through May (2026). All applicants—or the SLEMCO member who sponsors them—must attend the annual meeting scheduled for June 13, 2026.
Eligibility and qualifications
- Applicants must be SLEMCO members or dependent children of SLEMCO members.
- Awards are for undergraduate study only; graduate and doctoral students are not eligible.
- Scholarship funds may be used at any public or private Louisiana university or trade school accredited by one of the following authorities: University of Louisiana System; Louisiana State University System; Southern University System; Louisiana Community and Technical College System; Louisiana Board of Regents Proprietary School System; Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities; or the U.S. Department of Education.
Selection and attendance requirement
Recipients are selected by random drawing at the annual meeting. The sponsoring member (or the member’s spouse) must be present at the June 13, 2026 meeting when names are drawn. If the sponsoring member is absent when a student’s name is called, that student will not receive the scholarship.
