Overview
The Lineman’s Leadership Scholarship was established through the efforts of Bill Collar, a Hall of Fame coach and former president of the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA). The scholarship awards $1,000 to a senior lineman who is nominated by a current WFCA member. The recipient is announced at the WFCA annual Awards Banquet during the Spring Clinic. This program recognizes personal and team leadership demonstrated on and off the field.

Conditions of the Scholarship
Nominees must demonstrate both personal and team leadership as defined for this scholarship: personal leadership is “the act of making good decisions” and team leadership is “the act of influencing others in a positive manner.” Selection should consider the athlete’s conduct on the football field, in the classroom, in the weight room, and within the community. Candidates must have earned a varsity letter for play as an offensive or defensive lineman. A candidate who has accepted a full football scholarship is not eligible for this award.
Eligibility: Must be a senior who has earned a varsity letter as an offensive or defensive lineman; must exhibit personal and team leadership; ineligible if recipient of a full football scholarship.

Application Procedure
To nominate a candidate, complete the required personal information on the official application form and attach a separate statement describing why the candidate should be considered for the scholarship. The nominating party must be a current WFCA member. Submit the completed application and supporting statement to the designated contact prior to the December deadline. Follow any additional instructions provided by the WFCA or the Scholarship Committee when preparing the nomination packet.

Award Payment and Release
The scholarship award of $1,000 is paid after the recipient successfully completes their first semester of college or technical school. To receive funds, the recipient must present a copy of their first-semester grades to the Chairman of the WFCA Scholarship Committee. Once the Chairman verifies the grades, the Committee will authorize release of the scholarship funds. Payment is contingent on academic completion as specified.
Award Value: $1,000 paid upon successful completion of the recipient’s first semester of postsecondary study, contingent on submission and verification of first-semester grades by the WFCA Scholarship Committee Chairman.
