Program overview This initiative aims to grow the pool of transportation professionals by supporting motivated undergraduates—especially those who are first-generation college students—through a combination of financial assistance and career-building experiences. The program is built on four pillars: - Scholarship funding (up to $20,000 per recipient; up to $4,000 per year for as long as five years of undergraduate study) - Active involvement with an ITE Student Chapter - Mentoring - Internship opportunities Who this is for The program is open to U.S. high school graduates and community college students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution and who intend to pursue transportation engineering, transportation planning, or a closely related discipline at a university that has an established ITE Student Chapter. Preference is given to first-generation college students and those from low-income households. Applicants who qualify for Pell Grants (based on the FAFSA) will receive priority consideration, though students who do not qualify for Pell Grants may still be considered. Award frequency and continuation One scholarship will be granted each year to an eligible graduating high school senior or a community college student committed to a career in transportation engineering, planning, or a related field and who will enroll at a university with an ITE Student Chapter. Recipients may remain in the program for up to five years of undergraduate study (receiving up to $4,000 per year, for a total maximum of $20,000) provided they meet the ongoing requirements below. Eligibility (initial and ongoing) Applicants must meet the following at application and maintain these standards while in the program: - Be a U.S. high school student or a community college student - Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident - Have an intended or declared major in transportation engineering, transportation planning, or a related field - Plan to enroll full time (or be enrolled full time) at an accredited college or university that has an ITE Student Chapter - Be in good academic standing - Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application Additional preferences - First-generation college students (neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree) - Low household income (Pell-eligible applicants are prioritized) How to apply Submit your application via: https://ite-scholarships.secure-platform.com/a Requirements to continue in the program To keep receiving support and remain a program participant, students must: - Maintain continuous full-time enrollment in a qualifying transportation-related program at an institution with an ITE Student Chapter - Earn a minimum semester GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) - Demonstrate satisfactory progress toward graduation - Provide transcripts and any other documentation requested by the ITE University Scholars Program Subcommittee Financial terms Scholarship funding is capped at $20,000 per student, disbursed as up to $4,000 per academic year for a maximum of five years of undergraduate study.
