NHA Past Presidents' Legacy Scholarship

Are you a college sophomore, junior, or senior planning to pursue a course related to the hydropower industry in the 2026-27 academic year? If so, you might qualify for the National Hydropower Association (NHA) Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship, which offers a $2,500 award.
Who Can Apply?
To be considered, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be a current college sophomore, junior, or senior who will be advancing to junior, senior, or graduate-level studies in Fall 2026.
- Be a full-time student at an accredited four-year or two-year college, or a vocational or technical school.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
- Hold U.S. citizenship or legal residency status.
- Be enrolled in a NHA-approved program related to the hydropower industry. A list of approved programs is provided below.
Please note that high school seniors are not eligible to apply.

Scholarship Details
The chosen recipient will receive a $2,500 award. Only one award will be granted.
How Recipients Are Chosen
The selection of scholarship recipients is based on:
- Academic achievement
- Leadership and involvement in school and community activities
- Work experience
- A statement outlining educational and career goals and objectives
- Unique personal or family circumstances
Finalists will be chosen by Scholarship America, while the recipient will be selected by the NHA panel.
Financial need is not a factor in the selection process.
Not all applicants will be chosen as recipients. All applicants must agree to accept the decision as final.
While the awards are not renewable, students can reapply each year they meet the eligibility criteria.
