In 2001, the NVMA Centennial Scholarship Foundation was enriched by an endowed scholarship, established by Dr. Joseph and Sonya Landholm. This scholarship was created with the aim of promoting Veterinary Acupuncture. The Landholms, who were long-term residents of Nebraska, intended to support veterinary students and practitioners in their pursuit of certification in veterinary acupuncture. Dr. Landholm, a Life Member of the NVMA, was a pioneer in his field, being one of the first certified veterinary acupuncturists in the Midwest.
